Family and Private Life

The people Tony keeps at a distance.

Behind the forensic discipline is a man whose family still loves him, even when the job keeps pulling him away.

Tony’s older brother, Vincenzo “Vince” Iavarone, runs a construction supply business in Burlington. Vince is loud, practical, and frustrated that Tony chose police work instead of joining the family business.

His younger sister, Maria Iavarone-DeLuca, is a high school guidance counsellor in Hamilton and the emotional centre of the family. Maria tries to pull Tony back into dinners, holidays, birthdays, and ordinary life.

Tony has one daughter, Lucia Iavarone, age 21. He loves her deeply, but their relationship is distant after years of missed weekends, emergency call-ins, and work that always seemed to come first.

Rocco and Nino

The only part of Tony’s life that does not ask questions.

Rocco is a scruffy shepherd-terrier mix, loyal, anxious, and always watching the front window. Nino is a boxer-lab mix, calmer and heavier, with a habit of sleeping beside Tony’s case files.
